Toolangi.vic.au received the following message:
I am contacting you to enquire about submitting a notice through your network. I am representing 11 other professional photographers who will be working on a photography project commissioned by the
Murrundindi shire. We have been asked to interview and photograph 40 residents of the shire who are aged 55 and above, who had experiences of the Black Saturday fires. The aim is to create a body of work which will portray a "positive aging" message, as well as allow residents to share their experiences of the fires. The resulting work will be exhibited in early May 2010..
As this is a community based project, we would like to invite anyone in the towns affected by the fires who falls into the age category to
be involved in the project. A photographer will be assigned to 3
residents each and during the months of January, February and March.
People involved will be photographed and interviewed about their
experiences of the fires. As this body of work aims to be in depth,
the photographer may have to visit more than once to create the final image. We are interested in all experiences, from people who were involved in fighting the fires, to people who helped survivors, and those who are helping rebuild.
All the photographers are members of the Many Australian Photographers (MAP) group and are accomplished photographers with a commitment to documentary work; the accurate and moving representation of people and real-life situations. They will undertake to capture and supply high quality, dignified photographic portraits reflecting the Shire's message of "Positive Ageing".
